The 2008 BCSCA
Conference will be hosted again in
Whistler and will include two streams
- Grassroots and Full Conference.
The Conference will begin with the
Team Aquatic Supplies Golf
Tournament and BCSCA Annual General
Meeting on Thursday, with the Full
Conference beginning on Friday, and
the Grassroots beginning on
Saturday. The table below summarizes
these dates and times.

2008 Conference will be held at in
beautiful Whistler, British
Columbia. Whistler's year round
resort is consistently ranked the
number one resort in North America.
Whistler is known for its skiing,
golfing, biking, hiking, shopping,
and nightlife.
The Conference
Centre, and Host
Hotel are all located in the
Whistler Village, a short walk
apart. The Whistler Village features
more than 200 shops and 90
restaurants and bars.
Whistler will be
host to the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Tom
Johnson Canadian National Training Center -
Vancouver, Head Coach
Named
as the Head Coach of the National
Swim Centre – Vancouver in September
2006 Johnson guided his swimmers to
three medals at the 2007 World
Championships in Melbourne,
Australia. Johnson's swimmer Brent
Hayden won gold in the 100 freestyle
and later teamed with Brian Johns to
win Bronze as part of the 4x200
freestyle relay. Before joining the
National Centre, Johnson had been
the Head Coach of the UBC Dolphins
for 27 years starting in September
1979. During his time in the club
system he built one of the most
impressive coaching resumes in
Canadian swimming history. Tom has
been named to Canada's coaching
staff at seven Olympic Games, nine
World Championships and eight
Commonwealth Games. Nationally his
clubs have won 15 overall national
team titles and 21 Canadian
Interuniversity Sport Crowns (12 for
men and nine for women). |

Joszef Nagy Canadian National Training Center -
Vancouver, Coach
Hungarian native
Nagy has coached with the American,
Hungarian and Spanish national teams
before moving to Vancouver to be the
Canadian National Swim Centre’s
Assistant Coach. His most famous
pupil was American superstar Mike
Barrowman who broke world records
six times between 1989 and 1992 in
the 200 breaststroke. Since 2003 he
was head coach at Honved Swim Club
in Budapest. Nagy served as a coach
on the 1980 (Hungary), 1988 (USA) and 1992 (Spain and USA) Olympic Coaching Staff’s. |

Randy has coached
on the 2000 Olympic team, nad will
again be a member of the 2008
Olympic Coaching Staff. Randy is the
coach of Canadian Olympians Ryan
Cochrane and Rick Say. |

Beatt Simon Fraser University / Simon
Fraser Aquatics, Coach
Cory has over 20
years of coaching experience with
the University of Calgary Swim Club,
Pacific Dolphins, Surrey Knights,
and Simon Fraser. Cory has a diverse
level of experience, including
coaching for Canada at the 2000
Paralympics, 2004 Olympics, and 2005
World Aquatic Championships.
Cory will be
conducting Grassroots Sessions on
each of the strokes. |

Eugene
Liang UBC Strength and Conditioning
Eugene Liang has been the massage
therapist and strength coach for the
UBC Dolphins and UBC Thunderbirds
Varsity Swim Clubs for the past
seven years. With a background in
Kinesiology and six years
instructional experience at the West
Coast College of Massage Therapy,
Eugene has presented numerous talks
on human performance. He was also
part of the medical support staff
for SNC at the highly successful
2007 Fina World Aquatic
Championships in Melbourne,
Australia. |
